Smith has chosen Jawga Boyz - Rollin Like A Redneck as his entrance music. M J Shain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 23 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, M J Shain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Slopey Smith!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Shain.
Shain throws a leg kick which misses Smith's front leg but catches the back leg as Smith tries to avoid it.
Smith fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shain looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Smith checks a low kick from Shain.
Smith throws a nice inside leg kick.
Smith stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shain.
Shain misses with a straight left.
A bone on bone clash there as Shain blocks the leg kick.

Shain fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith distracts Shain with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Smith content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Shain has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

Shain is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Smith is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Shain is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action.
Smith fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Smith fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Some bone on bone action there as Smith checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Shain has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.

Shain swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shain avoids it really well and circles away.
The crowd cheers as Smith lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shain doesn't seem phased though.
Slopey Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shain on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Smith. Smith obviously looking to wear him down.

A nice inside leg kick there by Smith. That's going to slow Shain down.

Shain throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.

Smith fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shain.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smith throws a low kick but Shain avoids it.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Shain crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Smith - the referee stops the clock and Shain gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Smith. Shain manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Smith is looking to land body kicks.
Shain is looking to wear down Smith with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Shain avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

A clash of legs there as Smith blocks the low kick.
Shain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Shain's shoulder, as Shain tries to avoid the shot.
Shain is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Shain jabs Smith to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Smith wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Shain takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shain will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
