PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jacob Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Conor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
McGregor trying to control but Smith flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
McGregor is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
McGregor rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
We've been hearing good reports from Smith's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is keen to just control but McGregor is a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
McGregor throws a big shot that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McGregor circles away quickly and effectively.
Conor McGregor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacob Smith dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McGregor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGregor tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
McGregor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McGregor.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and McGregor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between McGregor's legs - danger averted.

McGregor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGregor has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though.

McGregor looking for a triangle here. Smith is fighting it but it looks tight! McGregor pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Smith is tapping out - this one is all over!

After the fight, Conor McGregor was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
