Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Smith!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a poor cross that misses

and Russell counters by moving into the clinch.
Smith misses with some punches.
Smith lands a left hand that snaps the head of Russell backwards.
Smith throws a punch but it's blocked by Russell.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Smith.
Russell wants a takedown but no success here.
Russell tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smith smiles and moves away.
Russell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lyndon Russell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Russell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Smith avoids it really well and circles away.
Russell dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Russell's head and hops out.
Russell gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Smith misses with a hook.
Russell shoots in but no luck this time.
Russell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Russell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lyndon Russell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Russell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Russell.
Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Russell.
Russell shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Russell has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Pitt in the buildup to the fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Smith counters with a body kick that stops Russell in his tracks momentarily.
Russell is breathing heavily.

Russell uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
Russell shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Smith misses with a jab, cross combination.

Russell closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Russell pushes Smith against the cage but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith throws a looping overhand right but Russell ducks down to avoid it.
Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Russell sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Russell tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Russell is looking for a takedown.
Russell is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smith to keep the fight standing.
Russell is trying to drag Smith to the mat but Smith just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Smith misses with some punches.
Smith lands with a short shot to the head.
Russell fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Russell turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Russell manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Smith throws Russell to one side and escapes!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Russell tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Russell misses with a takedown

Russell is rocked!
Russell steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Oh Russell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Russell ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Smith throws a shot from downtown. Russell moves away and avoids it.
A swing and a miss from Smith.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Russell is defended easily by Smith.
Smith misses with a hook.
Russell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Russell seems to have got his legs back now.
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Russell on that attempt.
Smith looks to land a right hand but Russell moved out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Russell slips under a jab from Smith.
Russell dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Smith throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Russells head.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Smith.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Smith dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lyndon Russell's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Smith throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith misses with a looping left.
Russell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smith counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Russell out cold! What a finish! Smith is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David Smith!
After winning the bout, David Smith thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
