PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drake Dusk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Death Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dusk comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Thunderstruck. Punch comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Coming Down kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Death Punch struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Death Punch will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Drake Dusk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Death Punch!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dusk tries to score a power double leg takedown but Punch sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dusk somewhat.
Dusk throws a looping overhand right but Punch ducks down to avoid it.
Dusk fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Punch scores with a jab to the head.
Dusk just misses with a punch to the body.
Punch throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dusk sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Punch lands a glancing blow to the side of Dusk's head.


It looks like Drake Dusk has been cut.
Nice shot by Dusk.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Punch drops his hands momentarily and Dusk takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


Punch is rocked!


It looks like Death Punch has been cut.
Dusk tries to clinch up.
Punch is still on wobbly legs! Can Dusk finish him?
Punch throws a lazy right hand but Dusk sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Punch seems to have recovered his senses.
Punch slips under a jab.
Punch slips a jab and a cross from Dusk.

Punch fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Punch throws a looping overhand right but Dusk ducks down to avoid it.

and Dusk counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dusk.
Dusk lands with a short shot to the head.
Dusk lands a nice uppercut.
A frustrated look appears on Punch's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Punch trying to stall but Dusk improves his position.
Punch is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Punch tries to break the clinch but Dusk is controlling the position.
Punch takes an elbow to the forehead.
Dusk lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Dusk breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Death Punch is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dusk takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Punch avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dusk moves out of range as Punch strikes.

Dusk scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Dusk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Punch throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Dusk fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Punch, pushing him back against the cage.
Dusk throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Dusk misses with an elbow over the top.

Dusk has Punch pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Dusk pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Punch tumbling to the mat - Dusk dives into Punch's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Dusk controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dusk trying to control but Punch is working from the bottom.
Dusk with a flurry of punches that miss.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dusk is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Drake Dusk just wasn't active enough.
Dusk misses with a head kick.

Dusk looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dusk thows a huge punch but Punch dodges it nicely.
Punch keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Punch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dusk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dusk controlling the action here.
Dusk wants to take a breather but Punch is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Drake Dusk wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Dusk throws a big shot that misses.
Dusk slips a straight right by Punch.
Dusk bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Punch's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Punch steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dusk.
Dusk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Punch moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dusk misses with a hook. Punch ducked under it nicely.
Dusk throws a lazy right hand but Punch sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dusk closes the distance and clinches up with Punch, looking for a takedown. Dusk pushes Punch against the cage but Punch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drake Dusk. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dusk misses with a straight right.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drake Dusk dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Dusk throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Punch tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dusk is in Punch's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Dusk slips nicely into half guard.
Punch won't allow Dusk to pass to mount.

Punch tries to get to full guard but Dusk has control of the leg.

Dusk is looking to advance position but Punch won't allow it.

Drake Dusk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Dusk works over Punch with some ground and pound from guard.
Dusk stays in close to Punch's body and controls the position.

Dusk slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Dusk landing a few strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dusk advances to mount.
Dusk wants to control but instead Punch manages to regain half guard.
Dusk working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Dusk thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Punch's head.
Dusk thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Dusk scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Punch wants to control but Dusk is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dusk wants to pass to mount but Punch is defending the position.
Dusk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dusk moves into full mount! Punch won't be happy about that!

Drake Dusk seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
