The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mateau has his takedown stuffed
and Cervantes counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Cervantes tries to clinch up but Mateau circles away and keeps his distance.
Cervantes punishes Mateau's body with a nice straight punch.
Cervantes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Cervantes drives through and clinches with Mateau against the cage.

Cervantes tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mateau smiles and moves away.

Mateau closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mateau lands in his opponent's guard.

Mateau wants to control from the top but Cervantes keeps moving.
Cervantes controls Mateau momentarily but Mateau frees himself.
Cervantes keeping moving, preventing Mateau from controlling successfully.

Cervantes has momentary wrist control but Mateau slips an elbow through the middle.
Cervantes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mateau controls the pace.

Cervantes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mateau. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Alejandro Mateau.
Cervantes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mateau as he jumps to the side.
Alejandro Mateau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Armando Cervantes.
Cervantes looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Cervantes has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Mateau is landing a low percentage of strikes.
