PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Johny Rico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Milan Zitska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Johny Rico!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Milan Zitska!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rico shoots in and bounces Zitska off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Rico might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Zitska controls Rico momentarily but Rico frees himself.
Rico content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Rico slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zitska is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Zitska wants to control the position but Rico says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Zitska is looking to improve his position.
Zitska trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Rico manages to pass to mount!
Rico looking to control and managing it successfully.
Rico lands with some strikes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zitska is trying to escape the mount.
Zitska regains half guard.
Rico seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Rico tries to pass to full mount but Zitska defends it.
Rico prevents Zitska from improving his position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rico in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Johny Rico wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Rico tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zitska was well out of range. Poor timing from Rico.
Rico looks to land a right hand but Zitska moved out of range.
Rico takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.


It looks like Johny Rico has been cut.
We've been hearing reports that Rico has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Milan Zitska seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rico bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rico taking a breather here.
Zitska is working to avoid the ground and pound but Rico connects with a decent elbow.
Zitska tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rico just content to control the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zitska can't do much from the bottom here.
Zitska gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rico wants to pass the guard but Zitska is defending well.
Rico is thwarting Zitska's attempts to control the position.
Rico with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Zitska looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Zitska wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Zitska manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Rico postures up.
Rico working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Rico controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Zitska trying to keep a closed guard but Rico is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Milan Zitska was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rico fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Zitska to the ground. Rico is now in Zitska's guard.
Zitska is trying to keep Rico in close.
Rico stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zitska swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zitska wants to get back to his feet but Rico is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Rico is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Rico's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Zitska tries to clinch up but Rico circles away and keeps his distance.
A decent looking cross lands there for Zitska.
Rico walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Zitska lands a glancing blow to the side of Rico's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Johny Rico will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Johny Rico's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Zitska tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rico manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rico misses with a looping left.
Rico misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Zitska.
Zitska lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Rico falls backwards - clearly groggy! Zitska dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Milan Zitska!
