PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eli Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tong Po (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Eli Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tong Po!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Po misses with the body kick

and Davis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Po is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Davis is keeping busy.
Po avoiding damage.

Po has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Davis is trying to keep an underhook but Po manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Po is keen to just control but Davis is a slippery customer.
Davis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Po is working away from the top position though.
Po prevents Davis from standing back up.
Po is thwarting Davis's attempts to control the position.
Davis is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Eli Davis.

Po swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Po closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Po not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Po wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davis keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Po throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Davis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Po's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Davis wants to clinch

and Po holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Po pulls Davis into guard.
Po looking to hit a scissor sweep but Davis is one step ahead there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Davis postures up and lands a big shot to Po's brow.
Davis is working Po over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Davis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Po has his foot on Davis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Davis works his way back into a safe position though.

Davis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Davis stands up over Po, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Davis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Davis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Po is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Davis defends well.

Davis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Po works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Davis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Davis cracks Po with a solid left hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Po is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Davis looks like he's trying to stand up.
Davis wants to improve his position but Po is controlling well.
Davis is concentrating on defense, preventing Po from advancing position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Po wants to free his trapped foot but Davis is holding on for dear life with his legs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Eli Davis will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Davis tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Po counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Po throws a head kick that misses.

Po shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Davis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Po stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Po wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
Po prevents Davis from getting back to his feet.

Davis uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Po shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Po showed some decent athleticism there.
Po performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Davis wants to get back to his feet.
Po controlling the pace.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Davis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Po is working away from the top position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tong Po hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Po closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Po lands in his opponent's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Po wants to get up but he can't break Davis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Po wants to pass the guard but Davis is keeping the position.

Davis wants to stand but Po is controlling the position.
Po pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Davis is keeping the position for now.
Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tong Po wasn't active enough on the ground.

Davis has closed the distance and engaged Po in a clinch.

Po breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Po throws a sloppy head kick and Davis moves out of range easily.

Po looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Davis is looking to stand up but Po isn't so interested in that idea.
Po throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Davis wants to get back to his feet but Po passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tong Po showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Po has Davis up against the cage in a clinch.
Davis wants a takedown but no success here.
Po misses with some punches.
Po lands a right hand.

Po has hold of one of Davis's legs. Davis is fighting the takedown attempt but Po gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Tong Po has got the better of the ground game so far.
Davis trying to keep a closed guard but Po is proving a slippery customer.
Davis is looking to stand up but Po isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Po not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Davis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Po is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Po drives through and clinches with Davis against the cage.

Po breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Davis throws a series of punches but Po moves out of range.
Po avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Po closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Po prevents Davis from improving his position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Po wants to take a breather but Davis is having none of it.
Po looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Po wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davis keeps working.
Davis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Po on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tong Po hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Po gets the takedown into side control.

Po thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Po swings around for an armbar but Davis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Po's guard.
Davis landing with the ground and pound.
Po wants to get back to his feet but Davis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Davis lands a couple of digs.
Davis is in close to Po's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Davis throws a strike but Po rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Davis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Po tries to stand but Davis is controlling from the bottom.
Davis working a defensive guard but Po passes into half guard.
Po seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Davis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Davis pushes Po off looking to stand but Po dives back in and keeps control.
Po is trying to control. Davis wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Po wants to pass the guard but Davis is defending well.
Po wants to lay and pray for a moment but Davis keeps working.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tong Po comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Po has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
