The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Axe stuffs the takedown attempt from Gaffney. Gaffney gets slowly back to his feet.

Gaffney drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Gaffney postures up in Axe's guard and throws a big left but Axe blocks it.
Gaffney trying to control but Axe is working from the bottom.
Axe is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gaffney stops Axe from standing up.
Axe keeping moving, preventing Gaffney from controlling successfully.
Gaffney would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Axe wants to get back to his feet but Gaffney is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Axe throws a lazy right hand but Gaffney sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Axe throws a nice looking combination but Gaffney bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gaffney is trying hard to land a takedown here. Axe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Axe tries to hold on but Gaffney pushes him away.

Gaffney is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Axe is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Axe flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Gaffney anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Axe and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Gaffney slips an arm under Axe chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Gaffney has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Gaffney is squeezing on Axe like an anaconda would it's prey. Axe fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
