Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Batista (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batista comes to the cage accompanied by wrecking ball. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dave Batista!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Abbott!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Batista throws a right hand that Abbott ducks under and follows up with a left that Abbott also avoids with ease.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Abbott crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Batista - the referee stops the clock and Abbott gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Batista. Abbott manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Batista lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Batista ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice defenses there by Batista.
Batista defending well as Abbott loads up on a big left hand.
A head kick misses from Batista.
Dave Batista seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A good leg kick by Batista.
A slapping body kick lands there for Batista.
Batista lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Batista scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Abbott has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Abbott on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Abbott has closed the distance and engaged Batista in a clinch.
Batista is trying to pull guard but Abbott turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Batista is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Abbott pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Abbott digs a right hand into Batista's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Batista's gas tank.

The crowd cheers as Abbott lands an impressive looking overhand right. Batista doesn't seem phased though.

Batista slips a straight right by Abbott.

Batista throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Abbott makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Batista lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Abbott connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Batista's hands.

Batista misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Abbott throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Batista feints and then cracks Abbott's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Abbott down.

Batista lands a nice looking kick to the body. Abbott takes a step back to recover.
Abbott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Batista manages to avoid it.

Batista throws a low kick, looking for Abbott's leg but Abbott calmly moves out of range.

No joy there for Batista, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Abbott blocks a head kick by Batista.
Abbott misses with the combination.
Batista lands a leg kick that knocks Abbott off balance momentarily.
Batista throws a leg kick but Abbott checks it.

A punch combination from Batista misses.
Batista avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Batista looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Abbott has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Batista.
Batista moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Batista misses with a kick to the body.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Abbott checks a leg kick.
Good leg kick by Batista there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abbott blocks a head kick by Batista.
Batista lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Batista closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Batista scores with a push kick.
Abbott scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Abbott connects with a body shot.
Abbott misses with a jab, cross combination.
Batista misses with a few strikes there.
Abbott throws a right and a left that both miss.
Abbott ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Abbott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Batista buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Batista throws a right hand that Abbott ducks under and follows up with a left that Abbott also avoids with ease.
Batista looks to land a right hand but Abbott moved out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but David Abbott will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Abbott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Batista was well out of range. Poor timing from Abbott.

Abbott lands a jab to Batista's midsection.

Abbott has managed to clinch.

Abbott's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A big left from Abbott misses.
Dave Batista is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Abbott drops Batista with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Batista looks back up at him and smiles so Abbott waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Batista is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Abbott has taken the fight to the clinch.
Oh Batista is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Abbott lands a nice shot to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Abbott.
Batista is pressed against the cage. Abbott pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Batista! Two more big strikes from Abbott and Batista crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). David Abbott!
The defeated Dave Batista had this to say: 'suck it'.
