Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guy Collins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason has chosen Broken Bones as his entrance music. Jack Mason is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Guy Collins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Mason!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Collins gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Collins turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Collins manages to end up in side control.
Mason sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Mason is looking for a sweep. Collins is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Collins will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Collins thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mason's head.
Collins throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Mason looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Collins is working for a kimura here but Mason manages to reverse the position and he's now in Collins's guard.

Collins pulls Mason in close to prevent any damage.

Collins thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Mason tries to stand but Collins is controlling from the bottom.

Guy Collins has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Mason gets caught flat footed, as Collins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Collins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason is looking for a triangle here but Collins uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mason is looking for a sweep.
Collins is chipping away with strikes.
Mason sneaks back into half guard.

Collins cracks Mason with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Collins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mason is in a horrible position here. Collins smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Collins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Collins postures up in Mason's guard and throws a big left but Mason blocks it.
Collins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Collins working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mason's head.

Collins throws an elbow that misses. Mason uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Collins's guard. Nice move by Mason!

Collins throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Mason wants to stand but Collins is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mason wants to control from the top but Collins keeps moving.
Collins is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Collins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mason looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Collins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mason is working to avoid the ground and pound but Collins connects with a decent elbow.

The strikes coming from Collins are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Mason is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mason moves into full guard.

Mason wants to hit a switch here but Collins passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mason there!
Mason bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Jack Mason has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Collins shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Well Collins has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
