PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Wyatt Jarvis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton slaps away a takedown attempt from Jarvis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jarvis has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Newton looks to clinch
and Jarvis counters with a left and a right that stings Newton.

Newton gets a clinch.
Jarvis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jarvis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jarvis avoids the head kick by Newton.

Newton closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jarvis keeps control of Newton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Jarvis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Newton is trying to stand back up but Jarvis is controlling him

That was a close round but I would say that Wyatt Jarvis will probably get the nod.
That's time! Jarvis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jarvis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Newton.
Jarvis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Newton misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Newton is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jarvis has escaped the position, nice work there.

Newton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jarvis has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Newton but great work by Jarvis.

Newton seems a little lost for a moment, as Jarvis dominates the positioning.

Jarvis won't let Newton get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Newton looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Jarvis regains full guard. Nicely done.

Newton is looking to pass into half guard but Jarvis pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Jarvis is in guard.

Newton seems a little lost for a moment, as Jarvis dominates the positioning.
Jarvis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Newton for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jarvis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
