Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Shoupp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shoupp has chosen Send The Pain Below as his entrance music. Alex Shoupp will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Shoupp!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shoupp shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Warren napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shoupp looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Shoupp stands up and beckons Warren to his feet.

Shoupp shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Shoupp misses with a head shot. Warren uses the momentum to regain guard.
Warren is looking to stand up but Shoupp isn't so interested in that idea.
Shoupp has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Warren keeping moving, preventing Shoupp from controlling successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Warren wants to get back to his feet but Shoupp is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Warren has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shoupp can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Shoupp landing some decent shots from guard.
Shoupp is pushing down on Warren's leg trying to pass to half guard. Warren is fighting to maintain full guard but Shoupp has managed to sneak the leg through.
Shoupp is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Warren could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Warren keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Warren wants to hold on but Shoupp pushes him away.

Shoupp working the ground and pound effectively.
Warren is desperately trying to improve his position but Shoupp has a good base and remains in mount.
Shoupp avoids the attempt from Warren to control.
Shoupp tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Shoupp punishing his opponent with strikes.
Warren is bucking up trying to escape but Shoupp cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shoupp cracks Warren with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's time! Warren's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Warren throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Shoupp's waist but Shoupp gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Warren off to one side.

Warren tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Warren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Shoupp shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shoupp showed some decent athleticism there.

Shoupp seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Warren is trying to stand up here but Shoupp is controlling him well.

Shoupp decides to stand and escape the position.
Warren lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shoupp backs up against the cage.

Shoupp shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Warren manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Shoupp passes Warren's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Shoupp is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Warren is in trouble now - Shoupp has advanced to mount!
Shoupp takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Shoupp wants to control the pace but Warren is squirming around nicely.
Warren is trying desperately to improve position.

Shoupp lands with some strikes.
Shoupp looking to control and managing it successfully.

Shoupp is working for a guillotine from mount but Warren frees his head quite easily.
Warren is working to get back to half guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Shoupp. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Warren is squirming around, avoiding Shoupp's attempts to control the action.

Warren's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alex Shoupp showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Shoupp defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Warren.
Warren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shoupp swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Warren had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shoupp defends it easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Shoupp stays in close to Warren's body and controls the position.
Shoupp won't allow Warren to get back to his feet.

Shoupp stands up and waves to Warren to follow him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Warren.

Shoupp slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Shoupp tries to free his leg and advance position but Warren is retaining full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Alex Shoupp hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Warren tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shoupp sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Warren somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Travis Warren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shoupp throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Shoupp in particular looking to stall.
Warren is looking to get back to is feet but Shoupp passes into side control.
Warren knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shoupp on the ground.

Well Shoupp has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
