The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Ward looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ward with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Lee is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Ward goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lee turns into him and now he's in Ward's guard.

Ward had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lee is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ward Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lee's back instead.
