PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Simms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sandor Orkas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sandor Orkas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sandor Orkas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Donald Grub.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simms moves out of range as Orkas strikes.
Nice takedown defense from Orkas. No joy for Simms on that attempt.
Simms shoots in but Orkas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Simms tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Orkas defends well and Simms ends up having to push Orkas into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Simms. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Orkas is pressed up against the cage. Simms has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Orkas down to the mat. Orkas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Orkas closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Orkas lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Simms looking for a guillotine here but Orkas defends easily.
Orkas is looking to work some ground and pound but Simms has wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Orkas controls from within his opponent's guard.
Orkas throwing strikes from guard but Simms blocks nicely.
Orkas is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Orkas landing with the ground and pound.
Orkas is working Simms over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Orkas chips away with some ground and pound.

Simms is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simms can't keep his opponent in guard - Orkas advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Oh Simms is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Orkas lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Simms! More strikes land and this one is all over! Orkas jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
