The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes throws a jab when Sanchez was well out of range.
Sanchez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Holmes's waist but Holmes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanchez off to one side.

Holmes misses with a lunging right hand

and Sanchez moves into the clinch.
Sanchez is working for takedown but Holmes is calmly controlling the position for now.
Sanchez drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julian Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The referee is keeping an eye on Sanchez - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Holmes lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

It looks like Julian Sanchez has been cut.

Holmes tries to circle away but Sanchez has him pinned against the cage.
Sanchez wants to break free but Holmes has control.

Holmes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sanchez darts in looking for a takedown but Holmes gets double underhooks and turns Sanchez into the cage.
Sanchez tries for a takedown. No joy.
Holmes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sanchez has him pressed against the cage.
Holmes is pressed up against the cage. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Holmes down to the mat. Holmes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Holmes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Holmes tries to clinch but Sanchez moves out of range.
Holmes smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Sanchez tries for a takedown but Holmes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sanchez shoots in for a double leg but Holmes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sanchez takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Holmes cracks Sanchez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Sanchez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Holmes finish him?
Oh Sanchez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Holmes rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sanchez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Sanchez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Holmes is looking to clinch but Sanchez is avoiding it.
Sanchez seems to have got his legs back now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Holmes cracks a nice hook into Sanchez's ribs.
Sanchez is breathing heavily.
Holmes sizes up Sanchez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Apollo Holmes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Julian Sanchez's cut is getting worse.
Holmes drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Sanchez right on the button. Sanchez goes down! Holmes follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Holmes gets the win via TKO!
