The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Simmons.
Simmons looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Brooks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Simmons wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Brooks gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Brooks is refusing to be controlled, as Simmons sits in half guard.

Simmons is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Brooks won't allow Simmons to pass to mount.

Simmons seems to be working for a kimura but Brooks defends the submission attempt.
Brooks is trying to get back to full guard.
Brooks is pressing down on Simmons's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Brooks wants to sweep here but Simmons controlling him for the moment.
Simmons must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Brooks manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Simmons is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Brooks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Simmons tries to improve his position but Brooks has taken his back! Brooks has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Simmons tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Brooks pushes Simmons away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
