The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McFreely clinches with his opponent.

McFreely really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Donaldson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McFreely wants to get back to his feet but Donaldson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Donaldson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McFreely, up you get!

McFreely throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Donaldson was covering up waiting for the punch and McFreely finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McFreely must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Donaldson is looking for a triangle but McFreely pushes his legs off easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McFreely wants to pass the guard but Donaldson is keeping the position.

McFreely flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Donaldson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

McFreely sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Edwardo Donaldson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Donaldson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McFreely is fighting to break Donaldson's control of his arms but Donaldson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

McFreely is sitting in close to Donaldson's body. Donaldson has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! McFreely is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, McFreely is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Donaldson.
