Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Doctor Cupitmasha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kenji Yomata!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yomata misses with a few strikes there.
Cupitmasha looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A right-left combo lands from Yomata.
Yomata stuffs the takedown attempt from Cupitmasha. Cupitmasha gets slowly back to his feet.
Yomata throws a one two combo.
Yomata throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Cupitmasha drops back looking for a leg! Yomata is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Yomata manages to kick Cupitmasha off! Cupitmasha jumps back into Yomata's guard.

Yomata tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Cupitmasha is refusing to be controlled, as Yomata sits in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cupitmasha is controlling Yomata's position as best he can from this difficult position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cupitmasha is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Yomata's half guard.

Cupitmasha is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Cupitmasha shoots for a takedown but Yomata saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Yomata throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cupitmasha blocks it with crossed arms.
Cupitmasha lands a nice knee to the body.
Cupitmasha prevents Yomata from breaking the clinch.
Yomata pushes off an throws an elbow but Cupitmasha leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Yomata looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Yomata lands with a left to the head.
Cupitmasha lands an elbow that stopped Yomata in his tracks for a moment.

Yomata blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Cupitmasha drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Yomata enables Cupitmasha to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Yomata manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've been hearing good reports from Cupitmasha's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
