PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Rasputin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Momoshiro Kitsune (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rasputin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Evil Scarecrow- Robotatron. Kitsune has chosen 僕はミス・テイク~ as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Piotr Rasputin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Momoshiro Kitsune!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kitsune closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kitsune seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rasputin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Kitsune with the ground and pound but Rasputin uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Kitsune lands a couple of digs.
Kitsune trying to control but Rasputin is working from the bottom.
Rasputin wants to sweep here but Kitsune controlling him for the moment.
Rasputin seems keen to control Kitsune's posture.
Kitsune forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rasputin is staying active underneath Kitsune, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Kitsune tries to pass to full mount but Rasputin defends it.

Kitsune misses with a head shot. Rasputin uses the momentum to regain guard.
Kitsune has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Evade MMA-LOD. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rasputin can't keep his opponent in guard - Kitsune advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kitsune looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rasputin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kitsune wants to control but Rasputin is keeping him busy.
Rasputin is trying to get back to full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kitsune throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kitsune is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Kitsune is looking for a kimura but Rasputin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kitsune to get the leverage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rasputin pushes Kitsune off looking to stand but Kitsune dives back in and keeps control.

Kitsune is looking for a kimura but Rasputin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kitsune to get the leverage.
Kitsune is nestled in close to Rasputin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rasputin is looking to control Kitsune's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rasputin avoid being mounted?

Rasputin trying to hold on to Kitsune's head to control him but Kitsune postures up.

Kitsune is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Kitsune looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rasputin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Kitsune is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Kitsune postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rasputin looks a forlorn figure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rasputin gets back to half guard.
Rasputin is looking for a sweep. Kitsune is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kitsune trying to control from Rasputin's half guard. Rasputin has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Rasputin wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kitsune pushing down on Rasputin's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Kitsune looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kitsune thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rasputin's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Momoshiro Kitsune dominated that round.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rasputin avoids the attempt from Kitsune to control.
Rasputin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Rasputin cracks Kitsune with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Kitsune is looking to get to half guard.
Momoshiro Kitsune has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rasputin is landing with some decent strikes but Kitsune is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
