Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin has chosen Downstait - This Is My Life as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Phoenix !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Martin!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phoenix tries to sprawl but Martin drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Martin is looking for a kimura here.
Martin prevents Phoenix from standing back up.

Martin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Phoenix trying to control but Martin postures up.

Martin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Phoenix is just riding it out for now. Martin eventually gives up the hold.
Phoenix is looking for a sweep. Martin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Phoenix won't allow Martin to pass to mount.

Martin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Phoenix has managed to free his arm - good work.

Phoenix is looking to control Martin's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Phoenix avoid being mounted?

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Martin misses with a takedown attempt - Phoenix sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Phoenix moves in looking to clinch but Martin pushes him off.

A looping hook to the body misses from Phoenix . Martin does a little dance to reset his feet.

Phoenix moves in looking to clinch but Martin pushes him off.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Phoenix paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Phoenix misses with a hook.
Phoenix tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Martin swats away the attempt to clinch by Phoenix .
Phoenix stuffs the takedown attempt from Martin. Martin gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Martin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phoenix 's waist but Phoenix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Martin off to one side.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but Phoenix shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Phoenix tries to clinch up.
Phoenix throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Martin.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andrew Martin will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Phoenix keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Martin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Phoenix .

Martin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Martin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Phoenix pinned against the cage. Phoenix gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Nice takedown defense from Phoenix . No joy for Martin on that attempt.
Martin is breathing heavily.
Phoenix throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Phoenix throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Phoenix tries to escape but Martin is in control.
Martin tries to advance to mount but Phoenix denies him.

Martin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Phoenix is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Martin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Martin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Phoenix knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Martin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Phoenix , who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Simon Phoenix will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Martin shoots in and drives through. Phoenix sprawls well.
Martin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Phoenix tries to avoid it but Martin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Phoenix to the ground. Phoenix escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Phoenix lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Martin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phoenix as he jumps to the side.

Martin closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Phoenix did well to prevent Martin getting side control.

Martin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Phoenix does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Martin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Phoenix lands a nice looking body shot.

Martin takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Phoenix cracks Martin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Martin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Phoenix connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Martin scrambles back to his feet.

Phoenix moves into range and clinches up with Martin.

Martin has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Phoenix clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Phoenix is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Martin gets his way!
Phoenix wants to get back to his feet.

Phoenix is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
