Hughes has chosen damn it feels good to be a gangsta as his entrance music. Carson Hughes has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Ellis Healing's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ellis Healing!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carson Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, John Mangel and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes tries to keep at a distance but Healing has taken the fight into the clinch.
Hughes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Healing has him pressed against the cage.
Hughes stops a takedown attempt from Healing.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Healing.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Hughes's coach down at Finch Farm was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hughes's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Healing pulls guard effortlessly.

Healing had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hughes defends it easily.
Hughes wants to get up but he can't break Healing's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Healing throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hughes escapes and throws Healing's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hughes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Healing is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Healing misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Healing wants to control but Hughes is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Healing slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Healing might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Healing is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hughes throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Healing's body to avoid the submission. Healing has instead reached around Hughes's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Healing arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ellis Healing!
