PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacinto Koutras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kin Sackett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jacinto Koutras!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kin Sackett!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koutras circles away from the clinch attempt.

Sackett shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Koutras napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sackett decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Sackett moves into the clinch successfully.

Sackett has Koutras pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sackett pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Koutras tumbling to the mat - Sackett dives into Koutras's guard.
Sackett pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Koutras is keeping the position for now.

Sackett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sackett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sackett is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Koutras is working an open guard so Sackett takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sackett has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Koutras could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Sackett drives through with a takedown into guard.
Koutras can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sackett controls the pace.

Sackett advances to half guard.

Sackett is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Koutras is just riding it out for now. Sackett eventually gives up the hold.

Sackett looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Koutras wants to improve his position but Sackett is controlling well.
Koutras on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Koutras tries to get out of the position.
Sackett wants to take a breather but Koutras is having none of it.

Sackett wants to work for an arm triangle but Koutras is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sackett seems to be working for a kimura but Koutras defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sackett is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Koutras defends it well.
Koutras is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sackett is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Koutras has managed to free his arm - good work.

Sackett seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Koutras might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sackett looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sackett seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Koutras does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Sackett is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Koutras's half guard.

Sackett stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Koutras closes the distance and clinches up with Sackett, looking for a takedown. Koutras pushes Sackett against the cage but Sackett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Koutras gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sackett to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sackett drops back looking for a leg! Koutras is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Koutras manages to kick Sackett off! Sackett jumps back into Koutras's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sackett gets to his feet - Koutras follows without any prompting.

Sackett shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Sackett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Sackett is keen to just control but Koutras is a slippery customer.
Koutras is trying to stand.

Sackett decides to return to a standing position.

Sackett looking to score a takedown here. Koutras is defending well but Sackett drives through and ends up in Koutras's guard.

Kin Sackett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sackett looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Koutras!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Koutras is trying to get back to half guard.

Sackett looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Kin Sackett has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sackett stands up.

Koutras shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sackett as he avoids it easily.

Sackett fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Koutras to the ground. Sackett is now in Koutras's guard.
Sackett slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Koutras is looking for a sweep.

Sackett decides to take the fight back to the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Koutras enables Sackett to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Koutras manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sackett stands up from Koutras's guard - Sackett perhaps looking for a knockout.

Sackett pushes Koutras up against the cage in a clinch.

Sackett pulls Koutras into guard.

Sackett has his foot on Koutras's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Koutras works his way back into a safe position though.

Sackett looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sackett has Koutras pulled in close to control his posture.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Sackett is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Koutras defends well.
Koutras wants to control from the top but Sackett keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kin Sackett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Koutras's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Koutras forces Sackett back against the cage and clinches.

Sackett tightens his grip and picks Koutras up, before dumping him to the ground. Koutras manages to land in guard.
Sackett passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Koutras is looking to reverse the position.

Sackett tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sackett has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sackett thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
