PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dominick De Struicao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Crown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Struicao comes to the cage accompanied by Walk With Me In Hell. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dominick De Struicao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Crown!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Struicao moves out of range of the body kick.
De Struicao with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Crown connects with a body shot.
De Struicao throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Crown throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
De Struicao takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A looping hook to the body misses from De Struicao. Crown does a little dance to reset his feet.
De Struicao swinging wildly here.
De Struicao checks a low kick from Crown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A jab from De Struicao finds it's way through Crown's defenses.
Crown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crown throws a sloppy head kick and De Struicao moves out of range easily.
Crown connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Crown closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Crown postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Crown goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, De Struicao has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Crown but great work by De Struicao.
Crown wants to control but De Struicao postures up.
Crown is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but De Struicao is staying active.
De Struicao wants to stand but Crown has his arm trapped.
You can see the frustration on Crown's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Crown is looking for a sweep.
De Struicao trying to control the action but Crown is working from the bottom.
Crown tries to bench press De Struicao off him but De Struicao keeps the position.
De Struicao will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Crown can't do much from the bottom here.
Crown tries to improve position but can't.

De Struicao decides to stand back up.
Crown throws a head kick that misses.
De Struicao throws a hook but Crown avoids it easily.
Dominick De Struicao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Crown misses with a takedown attempt - De Struicao sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Crown is trying hard to land a takedown here. De Struicao sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Crown defending well as De Struicao loads up on a big left hand.
De Struicao ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Crown moves away.
Crown closes the distance and clinches up with De Struicao, looking for a takedown. Crown pushes De Struicao against the cage but De Struicao circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dominick De Struicao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Crown.

Crown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Crown displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as De Struicao throws out the jab.
Crown tries a head kick but it misses.
Crown tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A looping hook to the body misses from De Struicao. Crown does a little dance to reset his feet.
Crown dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on De Struicao. That did some damage!
Crown shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says De Struicao as he avoids it easily.
Crown looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? De Struicao is fending him off so far but Crown persists. Nope, De Struicao circles away and we're back to standing.
Crown tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but De Struicao paws at him with a jab and circles away.
De Struicao slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dominick De Struicao will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Crown misses with a low kick.
De Struicao takes a kick to the side of the head.
We've been told by De Struicao's head coaches at Reign in Blood that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Crown tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Crown throws a low kick but De Struicao moves out of range easily.
Crown throws a leg kick
and De Struicao counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
De Struicao throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Crown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

De Struicao misses with a hook
and Crown counters with a head kick.
Crown tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. De Struicao manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Crown tries to clinch but De Struicao is having none of it.
Crown dives in and grabs De Struicao's left leg, looking for a takedown. De Struicao pushes down on Crown's head and hops out.
Crown connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Crown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Dominick De Struicao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Crown.
De Struicao will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
De Struicao throws a series of strikes that have Crown backpedaling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
De Struicao cracks Crown with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Crown.
Crown tries to clinch up.
De Struicao is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Crown can do to turn this around?
Crown throws a head kick that misses.
Dominick De Struicao is winning the standup battle so far.
Crown wants to clinch but De Struicao slips to the side
and De Struicao counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
De Struicao swats away the attempt to clinch by Crown.
Paul Crown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Crown is defended easily by De Struicao.

De Struicao cracks Crown with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Crown falls to his knees and De Struicao doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dominick De Struicao!
