PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Floyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandre Dumas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dumas is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: The Writer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Floyd!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alexandre Dumas!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Floyd pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Floyd swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Floyd throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Dumas's head.
Dumas with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Dumas wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Floyd misses with a wild body shot.
A solid leg kick lands there for Floyd.
Dumas connects with a nice looking jab.
Dumas moves in looking to clinch but Floyd pushes him off.
Floyd throws a leg kick but Dumas moved away.
Floyd throws a head kick that misses.
Dumas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Floyd throws a sloppy head kick and Dumas moves out of range easily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dumas misses with a takedown attempt - Floyd sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Floyd does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dumas lands a nice hook to Floyd's body. Floyd takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Dumas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dumas takes a swing at Floyd's ribcage but misses.
Floyd ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Dumas fails to land with a series of punches.
Floyd connects with a solid leg kick.
Dumas moves in looking to clinch but Floyd pushes him off.

Dumas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Floyd was covering up waiting for the punch and Dumas finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Floyd manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dumas manages to get himself to full guard.


Dumas is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Floyd defends well.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dumas is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Dumas is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Dumas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Floyd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Floyd manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dumas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Floyd gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dumas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Floyd is one step ahead there.

Dumas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dumas looking for a sweep. Not yet Dumas, not yet.

Dumas throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've been hearing good reports from Floyd's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dumas looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Floyd controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Floyd would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Floyd trying to control the position from guard on top but Dumas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dumas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Floyd tries to break free but Dumas pushes him back against the cage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alexandre Dumas will probably get the nod.
That's time! Floyd's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Floyd attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Dumas is looking to clinch but Floyd is avoiding it.
Floyd lands a nice leg kick that just misses Dumas's sensitive parts.
Floyd throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Floyd keeps the fight on the outside.
Dumas is looking to clinch but Floyd is avoiding it.
Floyd tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Floyd moves forwards but Dumas connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Dumas misses with a few strikes there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Floyd throws a head kick that misses.

Dumas has managed to clinch.
Dumas's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Floyd.

Dumas blocking some punches.
Floyd misses with an elbow strike.
A nice left hand lands by Floyd.
Dumas struggles to land a body shot inside as Floyd controls his hands.

Floyd manages to break the clinch.
Dumas falls off balance throwing a combination
and Floyd counters with a low kick, right behind Dumas 's knee.
Floyd throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Dumas fails to land the takedown.
Floyd throws a leg kick which misses Dumas's front leg but catches the back leg as Dumas tries to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Floyd pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dumas avoids a kick to the body.
Dumas looks to clinch
and Floyd counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Floyd fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dumas manages to avoid it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Floyd.
Floyd tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Floyd closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Dumas throws an overhand right that lands on Floyd's shoulder, as Floyd tries to avoid the shot.
Dumas waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Floyd.
Floyd avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Dumas crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Floyd - the referee stops the clock and Dumas gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Floyd. Dumas manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Dumas closes the distance but Floyd moves to the side
and Floyd counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Dumas is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Floyd scores with a head kick.

Dumas rushes Floyd and presses him up against the cage.
Floyd tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Floyd throws a head punch that misses.
Dumas lands with a light punch inside.
Stalling in the clinch from Dumas.
Floyd misses with some punches.

Dumas drags the fight down to the ground.
Floyd content to stall in guard here.
Dumas is trying to keep Floyd in close.

Floyd wants to control from the top but Dumas keeps moving.
Dumas is trying to control the position but Floyd postures up.

Dumas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Floyd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Dumas is tightening it up a little... Floyd has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Floyd reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Floyd taps out! Nice BJJ there by Dumas!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Alexandre Dumas! Alexandre Dumas retains his lightweight title!
