PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ulrik Vinni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rami Tummanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tummanen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Musta Barbaari - Salil eka salil vika kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rami Tummanen will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ulrik Vinni!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rami Tummanen!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tummanen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Vinni looking for a guillotine here but Tummanen defends easily.
Tummanen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Tummanen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Tummanen is looking to stand up but Vinni won't let him.
Tummanen wants to control from the top but Vinni keeps moving.
Vinni wants to improve his position but instead Tummanen has moved into half guard.
Tummanen prevents Vinni from standing back up.
Tummanen works his way into side control.
Vinni prevents Tummanen from moving into mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Tummanen controls the position.
Vinni might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Vinni tries to bench press Tummanen off him but Tummanen keeps the position.

Tummanen tries to stand but Vinni is controlling his head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vinni closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tummanen's guard.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tummanen.
Tummanen postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Tummanen tries for a kimura but Vinni is defending well.

Vinni can't do much from the bottom here.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Tummanen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Tummanen manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vinni on his heels. He'll look to pass Vinni's guard now, I'm sure.
Tummanen stands up over Vinni, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Vinni looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tummanen is one step ahead there.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Vinni avoids the head kick by Tummanen.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Tummanen.
Tummanen tries to clinch but Vinni moves out of range.

Tummanen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Vinni looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vinni is looking for a sweep.

Tummanen is looking to take a break and control but Vinni is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vinni can't do much from the bottom here.
Vinni tries to escape but Tummanen is in control.

Tummanen decides to stand back up. Tummanen steps back and let's Vinni get back to his feet.
Vinni dives in and grabs Tummanen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tummanen pushes down on Vinni's head and hops out.
Tummanen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tummanen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vinni sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tummanen somewhat.
Vinni is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tummanen.
Tummanen has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Vinni fails with a takedown attempt.
Vinni looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tummanen is fending him off so far but Vinni persists. Nope, Tummanen circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ulrik Vinni. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tummanen checks the leg kick nicely there.
Tummanen closes the distance and clinches up with Vinni, looking for a takedown. Tummanen pushes Vinni against the cage but Vinni circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vinni throws a sloppy head kick and Tummanen moves out of range easily.

Tummanen wants to take the fight to the mat but Vinni manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Vinni looking to stall.
Vinni tries to pull guard but Tummanen won't allow it.
Tummanen jumps guard but Vinni stands there with Tummanen around his waist. Tummanen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Vinni escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vinni swats away the attempt to clinch by Tummanen.
Tummanen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vinni as he avoids it easily.

Vinni clinches up with Tummanen and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vinni with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Rami Tummanen has been cut.

Vinni ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Vinni no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Vinni is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Rami Tummanen will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Tummanen moves into the clinch successfully.
Vinni is trying to break free.

Tummanen tightens his grip and picks Vinni up, before dumping him to the ground. Vinni manages to land in guard.

Vinni escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tummanen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Vinni is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Vinni wants to stand and escape but Tummanen is having none of it.
Vinni keeping moving, preventing Tummanen from controlling successfully.

Vinni lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Vinni wants to control from the top but Tummanen keeps moving.
Vinni has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tummanen is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tummanen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Vinni stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tummanen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Vinni throws a body punch but Tummanen moves out of range.
Vinni defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tummanen.
The fight stays on the outside here - Vinni looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Vinni shoots in looking for a takedown but Tummanen manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vinni's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Vinni leaves Tummanen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tummanen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tummanen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Vinni as he jumps to the side.
Ulrik Vinni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rami Tummanen.
Vinni fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rami Tummanen is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ulrik Vinni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Vinni closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Vinni tries to score a body lock takedown but Tummanen shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Vinni is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Tummanen's half guard.
