Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Koskinen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derek Patterson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Koskinen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Patterson sprawls well initially but Koskinen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Patterson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Koskinen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Patterson working for a triangle but Koskinen defends it easily.
Koskinen forces his way into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Koskinen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Patterson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Patterson.

Patterson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Patterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Koskinen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Patterson tries to bench press Koskinen off him but Koskinen keeps the position.

Koskinen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Koskinen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Koskinen is breathing heavily.

Koskinen has hold of Patterson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Patterson seems comfortable defending it but Koskinen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Patterson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Patterson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Koskinen couldn't care less - he's delighted!
