Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sum Gai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Struve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gai's entrance music is I'm A Lover Not A Fighter. A fine choice. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sum Gai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jake Struve!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Struve takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Struve scores with a head kick. Gai tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Gai swings for the body but Struve moves out of range.

Struve throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gai was covering up waiting for the punch and Struve finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Struve is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gai is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gai has escaped and now he's on top!

Gai is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Gai knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Struve on the ground.

Struve has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gai can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Sum Gai just wasn't active enough.
Struve looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gai looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Struve scores with a jab. Gai acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Gai.
Struve fails with a takedown attempt.
Struve lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Struve dives in and grabs Gai's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gai pushes down on Struve's head and hops out.
Sum Gai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Struve.

Gai closes the distance and pushes Struve back into the cage.
Struve jumps guard but Gai turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Struve is trying to drag Gai to the mat but Gai just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Struve is trying to push Gai away but Gai has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Struve tightens his grip and picks Gai up, before dumping him to the ground. Gai manages to land in guard.
My spies in WarZone Training Facility 1 inform me that Struve has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Gai keeping moving, preventing Struve from controlling successfully.
Gai pulls Struve in close to prevent any damage.
Struve pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gai is keeping the position for now.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gai throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sum Gai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Struve pushes Gai up against the cage in a clinch.
Gai tries a body shot but Struve blocks it.
Gai comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Struve manages to pull guard.
Gai looking to pass the guard.

Struve is looking for a triangle but Gai pushes his legs off easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Struve can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Gai controls the pace.

Struve is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gai trying to control but Struve is working from the bottom.
Struve tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gai trying to control the position from guard on top but Struve is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Struve dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gai falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Struve to counter with a crisp jab.
Gai throws a leg kick but Struve checks it.
Gai scores with a decent looking hook.
Gai walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Gai clinches up with Struve and pushes him back against the cage.

Struve gets control of Gai's arms and successfully pulls guard. Struve will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Struve looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gai is one step ahead there.

Struve working for submissions but it's allowed Gai to get to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Struve works his way to full guard. Good work.

Struve escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gai gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Struve looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Struve working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gai doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gai manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Struve looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Gai has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Struve to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Gai is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Struve pulls down on the head and he's put Gai to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jake Struve!
