PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexandre Dumas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Koch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dumas comes to the cage accompanied by The Writer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koch fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Dumas looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A solid leg kick lands there for Koch.
Koch lands with a nice body kick.
Koch tries to score with a low kick but Dumas moves his leg out of the way.
Koch swings for the body but Dumas moves out of range.
Dumas darts in trying to clinch
and Koch counters with a slapping leg kick.
Koch connects with a leg kick. Dumas looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Dumas has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dumas is trying to pull guard but Koch turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Dumas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Koch gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Dumas wants to take the fight to the mat but Koch manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Koch lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dumas backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dumas shoots in for a takedown but Koch shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Dumas counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Dumas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Dumas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Dumas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Koch is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Koch wants to land a leg kick but Dumas is out of range.
Koch throws a sloppy head kick and Dumas moves out of range easily.

Dumas ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dumas no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Dumas isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Koch stacks Dumas on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Koch!

Koch is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dumas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dumas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Koch wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Koch turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Koch lands a nice hook to Dumas's body. Dumas takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Koch fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dumas checks it well.

Dumas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Koch is staying active underneath Dumas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That was a close round but Alexandre Dumas did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Dumas has an Americana. Koch didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Dumas is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Dumas hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
