Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elisha Franks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Manu Richer!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Richer looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Franks!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Franks tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

It looks like Elisha Franks has been cut.
Richer lands a big elbow.


Franks is rocked!

Richer swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Franks is now in Richer's guard. A big mistake from Richer there, giving up the dominant position!
Oh Franks is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Richer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Richer escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Franks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Franks seems to have got his legs back now.
Franks trying to control the position from guard on top but Richer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Franks looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Franks tries to stand but Richer is controlling from the bottom.

Richer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Franks doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Franks manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Richer is trying to keep Franks in close.
Franks tries to stand but Richer is controlling from the bottom.

Franks stands up and waves to Richer to follow him.

Franks moves into range and clinches up with Richer.

Richer blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A right handed body shot lands from Richer.

Richer pulls Franks into guard.
Franks with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Franks throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Richer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Franks is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Richer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Franks really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Richer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Franks wanted to stand there but Richer had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Franks tries to clinch but Richer is having none of it.

Richer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Richer gets control of Franks's arms and successfully pulls guard. Richer will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Franks gets to his feet - Richer follows without any prompting.
Richer avoids a kick to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Richer.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Richer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franks keeps working.
Franks is trying to get back to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Franks shoots in and drives through. Richer sprawls well.

Richer dives in and scores a takedown into Franks's guard.
Richer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Franks looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Richer has picked Franks up and slammed him! Franks can't keep hold of the triangle and Richer manages to pass to side control!

Richer stands up.
Richer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Richer is looking to control Franks's arms but Franks gets an underhook and turns him. Now Richer has his back to the cage.

Richer has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Franks regains guard immediately.

Franks looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Manu Richer was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Richer closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Franks is pressing down on Richer's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Richer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Richer looking to sit in guard and control but Franks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Franks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Richer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Richer's back!
Franks is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Richer breaks Franks's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Franks tries to clinch up.
Franks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Franks misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Richer circles away from the clinch attempt.

Richer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Franks to the mat! Franks manages to get full guard.
Richer pushes down on Franks's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Richer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Richer is keen to just control but Franks is a slippery customer.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Richer might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Franks haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Franks is trying to maintain the position but Richer is very close to passing his half guard.

Richer stands up out of the half guard.

Richer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Richer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Franks manages to work his way to half guard, despite Richer's best efforts.

Franks is looking to get back to is feet but Richer passes into side control.
Richer controls the position.

Richer decides to stand up, so the ref orders Franks to his feet.
Manu Richer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Franks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Richer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Elisha Franks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Richer ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Richer no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Richer stuffs the takedown attempt from Franks. Franks gets slowly back to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Franks enables Richer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Franks manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Franks holds on and takes a little breather.

Franks has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Richer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Richer tries to free his leg and advance position but Franks is retaining full guard.
