Rekis is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: AC/DC - Thunderstruck. John Rekis looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lupata closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Lupata missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Lupata is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lupata avoids the attempt from Rekis to control.
Rekis is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Lupata looking to control but Rekis is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Lupata misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Lupata is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rekis can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rekis wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Lupata.

Lupata cracks Rekis with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

We've been hearing good reports from Lupata's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
