PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Khrepchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khrepchenko comes to the cage accompanied by Why Do We Fall. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Khrepchenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Walker!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fight stays on the outside here - Khrepchenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Walker has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Walker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Walker swats away the attempt to clinch by Khrepchenko.
Khrepchenko looks to clinch
and Khrepchenko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown. Khrepchenko tries to sprawl out of it but Walker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khrepchenko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Khrepchenko moves in looking to clinch but Walker pushes him off.
Walker tries to bum rush Khrepchenko with a series of wild strikes but Khrepchenko uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Walker counters with a body kick that stops Khrepchenko in his tracks momentarily.

Khrepchenko tries to clinch up but Walker circles away and keeps his distance.

Walker tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Alexander Khrepchenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Walker.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Khrepchenko obliges.
Walker tries to break free but Khrepchenko pushes him back against the cage.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Walker.

Walker drags the fight down to the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Walker is trying to keep Khrepchenko in close.

Khrepchenko decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Walker, up you get!

Khrepchenko looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Walker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Walker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Walker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khrepchenko is fending him off so far but Walker persists. Nope, Khrepchenko circles away and we're back to standing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Khrepchenko will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Walker ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Walker no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Khrepchenko would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Walker bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khrepchenko's guard.
Khrepchenko is looking to stand up but Walker isn't so interested in that idea.

Walker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Khrepchenko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Khrepchenko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Khrepchenko!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walker wants to stand back up but Khrepchenko manages to pass into side control.

Walker is looking to reverse the position.
Khrepchenko wants to stand but Walker is controlling his arm.
Walker tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Khrepchenko easily slips into full mount!

Nice takedown defense from Khrepchenko. No joy for Walker on that attempt.

Walker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

and Khrepchenko counters with a nice leg kick.
Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Khrepchenko counters with a big head kick but Walker shrugs it off.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Don Walker.
I think Walker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
