Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Split Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Notrussian Russian!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russian lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rush circles away quickly and effectively.
Rush shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rush showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rush prevents Russian from improving his position.
Russian is refusing to be controlled, as Rush sits in half guard.
Russian is pressing down on Rush's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rush postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Russian looking for a sweep. Not yet Russian, not yet.
Russian is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rush throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Russian works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rush with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Russian trying to control the position.
Russian looking for a sweep. Not yet Russian, not yet.
Russian keeping moving, preventing Rush from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Russian throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Russian looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rush is one step ahead there.
Rush pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Russian is keeping the position for now.
Russian will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rush works over Russian with some ground and pound from guard.
Russian bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rush's guard.
Rush wants to stand but Russian is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rush controlling the position.
Rush keeping moving, preventing Russian from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Russian is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Rush is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Split Rush just wasn't active enough.
Rush finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Russian's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Rush falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Notrussian Russian!
