PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lucien Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allu Teppo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Allu Teppo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lucien Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Allu Teppo!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teppo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Teppo throws a right hand that Guerrero ducks under and follows up with a left that Guerrero also avoids with ease.
Teppo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Guerrero shoots in and bounces Teppo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Teppo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Guerrero trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Teppo controls Guerrero momentarily but Guerrero frees himself.
Guerrero might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Teppo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Guerrero.

Teppo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Teppo looking to control but Guerrero is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Guerrero is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Guerrero is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Teppo stands up from mount. Strange move.
Teppo tries to clinch there but Guerrero circles away.
Teppo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Guerrero counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Teppo!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A lull in the action here as Guerrero stalls from top position.

Guerrero thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Guerrero misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Teppo managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Guerrero.
Guerrero really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Teppo is looking for a sweep.
Guerrero controlling the position from side mount.
Guerrero creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Teppo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Guerrero tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Teppo is looking to reverse the position.
Guerrero could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Teppo throws a combination that misses

and Guerrero holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Guerrero lands a nice shot to the body.
Guerrero is trying to pull guard but Teppo has him pressed against the cage.

Teppo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Teppo throws an overhand right that lands on Guerrero's shoulder, as Guerrero tries to avoid the shot.

Teppo shoots in and bounces Guerrero off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Guerrero is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Guerrero keeping moving, preventing Teppo from controlling successfully.

Teppo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Guerrero manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Teppo has Guerrero in his guard.

Teppo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Teppo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Guerrero circles away quickly and effectively.

Teppo shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Guerrero is looking to escape.

Guerrero works his way to full guard. Good work.
Teppo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Guerrero is keeping the position for now.
Teppo is breathing heavily.
Guerrero is looking to stand up but Teppo isn't so interested in that idea.
Teppo sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Guerrero is adopting a defensive guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Allu Teppo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Guerrero counters with a nice double leg into side control. Teppo won't be happy with that.

Teppo regains half guard, as Guerrero was trying to land strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guerrero is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Guerrero looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Teppo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Guerrero throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Guerrero misses with a head shot. Teppo uses the momentum to regain guard.

Guerrero throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Teppo has his hands on Guerrero's head, controlling the position.
Guerrero distracts Teppo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucien Guerrero dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



Teppo has closed the distance and engaged Guerrero in a clinch.

Guerrero pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Teppo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Guerrero is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Guerrero cracks Teppo with a solid left hand.
Guerrero content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Guerrero throws a big elbow that misses.

Teppo is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Guerrero is looking to work some ground and pound but Teppo has wrist control.
Teppo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Guerrero is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Teppo is trying to keep Guerrero in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Allu Teppo.
Teppo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sloppy strikes from Teppo. Those never looked like landing.
Teppo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A punch lands to the side of Guerrero 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Guerrero closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Teppo just misses with a punch to the body.
Teppo throws a right and a left that both miss.
Teppo misses with a combination
and Guerrero counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Guerrero throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Teppo was covering up waiting for the punch and Guerrero finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Guerrero thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Allu Teppo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lucien Guerrero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lucien Guerrero showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Guerrero, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
