The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bonney tries to sprawl but Silva drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Silva trying to mount his opponent but Bonney defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bonney is trying to get back to full guard.
Bonney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bonney keeps trying to improve his position.
Bonney is not content to let Silva control the position.

Silva wants to work for an arm triangle but Bonney is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Silva is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bonney defends it well.

Bonney slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Bonney is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bonney tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg.
Bonney felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bonney swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bonney pulls Silva in close to prevent any damage.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bonney bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bonney can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Silva pushes a forearm under Bonney's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Bonney is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
