Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Van Damme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Damme shoots in but Shamrock avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Shamrock moves into the clinch.

Shamrock is trying to trip Van Damme. He has hold of a leg but Van Damme is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Shamrock persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Shamrock trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Damme is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shamrock is in close to Van Damme's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Shamrock working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Van Damme's head.

Shamrock lands a couple of digs.
Van Damme wants to sweep here but Shamrock controlling him for the moment.
Van Damme is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Van Damme throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Van Damme is looking to take a break and control but Shamrock is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Shamrock tries to kick Van Damme off but Van Damme keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Shamrock trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Van Damme is keen to just control but Shamrock is a slippery customer.

Shamrock on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shamrock tries to get out of the position.

Van Damme is looking for a kimura but Shamrock is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Van Damme to get the leverage.
Shamrock wants to get back to his feet.
Shamrock is breathing heavily.
Van Damme tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shamrock knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Van Damme is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shamrock doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Van Damme.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shamrock manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Van Damme keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Van Damme is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Van Damme wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Van Damme misses with a body punch.
Van Damme is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Shamrock is keeping busy.

Shamrock works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Shamrock is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Shamrock closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ken Shamrock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shamrock unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Van Damme wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Shamrock celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
