Meranda has chosen Whats Beef as his entrance music. Gustavo Meranda is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands with a straight right. Meranda didn't see that one coming.
Sloppy strikes from Meranda. Those never looked like landing.
Smith connects with a solid leg kick.
Smith misses with a left hand

and Meranda counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith has Meranda pulled in close to control his posture.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smith wants to stand and escape but Meranda is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Smith pulls Meranda in close to prevent any damage.
Meranda missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Smith has control of Meranda's left arm, preventing Meranda from doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jeremy Smith just wasn't active enough.
Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Meranda was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith.
Smith misses with a hook.
Meranda fails to land the takedown.
Good work by Meranda as he checks the leg kick.

Smith loads up on a big right hand but Meranda slips the punch.
Smith throws a hook to the side of Meranda's head but Meranda sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Meranda drops his hands momentarily and Smith takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Meranda tries to close the distance and clinch but Smith swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Nice sprawl there from Smith as Meranda shoots in.
Meranda has his takedown stuffed
and Smith makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Jeremy Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gustavo Meranda.
Smith missing with a left hand there. Meranda was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Smith cracks Meranda with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Jeremy Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith throws a lazy right hand but Meranda sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Smith connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Smith thows a body shot but no joy.
Smith misses with a wild body shot.

Meranda takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Smith throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith gets tackled into the cage by Meranda. Meranda maintains the clinch.
Meranda is trying to pull guard but Smith turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Meranda.
Smith is working Meranda over against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Smith.
Meranda jumps guard but Smith turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Smith prevents a takedown attempt there.
Meranda is working for takedown but Smith is calmly controlling the position for now.
Smith lands with a left to the head.
Smith is pressed up against the cage. Meranda has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smith down to the mat. Smith avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Smith lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Smith lands with an uppercut that bounces Meranda off the cage and back into range.

Meranda is rocked!
Meranda slips under a jab.
Meranda is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Smith loads up on a big right hand but Meranda slips the punch.
Smith misses with a hook.
Meranda ducks under a wild hook from Smith.
Smith pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Meranda steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Meranda staying out of range there.
Smith seems to be stalking Meranda here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Meranda drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!
