PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magnus Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pablo Cojones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes to the cage accompanied by Ironfist. Cojones has chosen Pearl Jam - Do The Evolution as his entrance music. Pablo Cojones will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Magnus Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pablo Cojones!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cojones shoots in and gets a takedown into Scott's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cojones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cojones trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Scott will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Scott gets caught flat footed, as Cojones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Scott looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Cojones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Cojones looking to sit in guard and control but Scott gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Scott passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Scott wants to control but Cojones is keeping him busy.
Scott connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cojones some visible discomfort.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cojones manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scott perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Magnus Scott wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Scott looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cojones!
Scott looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Cojones is looking for a sweep.
Scott looks up at the clock and then as Cojones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Scott smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Cojones is not content to let Scott control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cojones is looking to reverse the position.
Scott is putting a hurting on Cojones here, landing some big shots from side control.
Scott trying to control the action but Cojones is working from the bottom.
Cojones manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Scott has Cojones pulled in close to control his posture.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Cojones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Scott tries to roll over but Cojones keeps him under control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Magnus Scott will probably get the nod.
That's time! Scott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Cojones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Scott napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Scott wants to control but Cojones postures up.
Cojones lands a nice forearm strike.

Cojones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Scott has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cojones but great work by Scott.
Scott is looking to take a break and control but Cojones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Scott tries to move to mount but Cojones blocks the move with his legs.
Cojones tries to improve position but can't.

Scott creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Cojones sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cojones keeps working.
Cojones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Scott wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Scott takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Cojones wants to control but Scott is keeping busy.

Scott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cojones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Scott.

Cojones throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Scott is working Cojones over with some ground and pound from side control.
Cojones tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cojones is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Scott's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Scott tries to stand and escape but Cojones is controlling the position.

Cojones misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Scott wants to pass the guard but Cojones is defending well.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well, if Scott is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Magnus Scott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cojones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Scott sprawls well initially but Cojones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
