The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mullen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Mullen scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Cruz to see if he's OK.
Mullen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cruz on the ground.
Cruz tries to buck Mullen off but Mullen is having none of it.
Mullen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Cruz avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mullen.

Mullen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cruz has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Mullen. Oh but Cruz has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Mullen goes limp - he's gone! Cruz jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
