Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emil Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helmut Sibier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Emil Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Helmut Sibier!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sibier shoots in and gets a takedown into Ellis's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ellis pulls Sibier in close to prevent any damage.

Sibier thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Sibier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ellis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ellis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sibier throwing strikes but missing.
Sibier trying to control but Ellis is working from the bottom.
Sibier throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sibier landing some decent shots from guard.
Ellis is looking to stand up but Sibier isn't so interested in that idea.

Ellis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sibier uses from the top position.

Ellis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sibier defends it easily.

Sibier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ellis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ellis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sibier!
Ellis prevents Sibier from getting the reversal.
Ellis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ellis enables Sibier to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ellis manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sibier has gone for a leg lock! Ellis slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sibier's guard.
Sibier looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Let's hope that Sibier has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Sibier can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ellis controls the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sibier decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sibier changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ellis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sibier is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ellis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sibier wants to control but Ellis is keeping him busy.
Ellis is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Sibier has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Sibier tries to move to mount but Ellis blocks the move with his legs.

Ellis managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sibier.
Ellis is pushing Sibier's head away, looking to escape. Sibier manages to hold on to the position though.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ellis tries to keep at a distance but Sibier has taken the fight into the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sibier jumps guard and drags Ellis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Helmut Sibier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sibier is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Ellis can't fight it off and eventually Sibier manages to take the fight to the floor. Ellis looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ellis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Ellis is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sibier.


It looks like Emil Ellis has been cut.

Ellis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sibier can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Helmut Sibier hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well Sibier has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
