Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Damon Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Jibjub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frank Jibjub will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jibjub shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Acevedo counters by clinching up.
Acevedo lands a body punch.

Acevedo pulls guard successfully.
Acevedo really is a fat lump.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Acevedo trying to strike off his back.
Jibjub pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Acevedo is keeping the position for now.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Acevedo manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Acevedo has Jibjub pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Acevedo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jibjub tumbling to the mat - Acevedo dives into Jibjub's guard.

Jibjub trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Frank Jibjub has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Jibjub clinches up with Acevedo and pushes him back against the cage.
Jibjub jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Acevedo walks away with a smile on his face. Jibjub gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Acevedo counters by moving into the clinch.
Damon Acevedo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Jibjub.
Jibjub tries to pull guard but Acevedo holds him up against the cage and eventually Jibjub drops back down to his feet.

Acevedo has picked Jibjub up - he's going for a ride! Acevedo dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jibjub wants to control but Acevedo is keeping busy.

Acevedo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jibjub is just riding it out for now. Acevedo eventually gives up the hold.

Jibjub wants to control but Acevedo is keeping busy.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Acevedo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jibjub trying to control from the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Acevedo misses with a head shot. Jibjub uses the momentum to regain guard.
Acevedo passes Jibjub's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Jibjub is trying to control but Acevedo manages to pass to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Damon Acevedo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Acevedo blocks a head kick by Jibjub.

Acevedo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Acevedo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jibjub is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Acevedo is working Jibjub over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Jibjub is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Acevedo won't allow Jibjub to sweep him here.

Jibjub wants to hit a switch here but Acevedo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jibjub there!
Jibjub is desperately trying to improve his position but Acevedo has a good base and remains in mount.
Jibjub tries to hold on but Acevedo postures up.
Damon Acevedo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Acevedo postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Jibjub in real trouble here! The ref calls for Jibjub to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
