The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Youdown tries to clinch but Meyer moves away

and Meyer counters by clinching up.

Meyer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Youdown tries to close the distance and clinch but Meyer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Youdown gets the takedown into side control.
Meyer tries to bench press Youdown off him but Youdown keeps the position.
Meyer manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Meyer is thwarting Youdown's attempts to control the position.
Meyer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Youdown tries to get to full guard but Meyer has control of the leg.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Youdown can do anything to dispel that myth.
Youdown is looking to escape.

Meyer sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Youdown defending well though.
Youdown really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Meyer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Meyer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Meyer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Meyer throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Meyer prevents Youdown from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Meyer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Meyer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Youdown doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Meyer.

Meyer is working for a submission of some sort.
Meyer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Youdown wants to get back to his feet.

Youdown is looking to get back to is feet but Meyer passes into side control.

Meyer has hold of Youdown's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Youdown tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Meyer cranks the arm and Youdown screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Youdown, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
