Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bart Anthony (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bart Anthony has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bart Anthony!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Joe!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe pivots, looking for a leg kick but Anthony is out of range and Joe settles back down.
Anthony closes the distance and clinches up with Joe, looking for a takedown. Anthony pushes Joe against the cage but Joe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Anthony really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Joe tries to clinch up.
Anthony throws a lazy head kick

and Joe counters by clinching up.

Joe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Anthony lands a leg kick that knocks Joe off balance momentarily.
Joe keeps the fight on the outside.
Anthony wants to clinch.
Good leg kick by Joe there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Joe throws the kick towards the body but Anthony avoids it.
Anthony looks for a takedown but Joe sprawls well.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Joe.

Anthony throws out a leg kick but Joe moves out of range and Anthony only half commits.
Joe Joe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Joe feints and as Anthony raises his hands in defense, Joe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Joe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Anthony will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Joe trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Joe works over Anthony with some ground and pound from guard.
Anthony keeping moving, preventing Joe from controlling successfully.
Joe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Joe trying to control but Anthony is working from the bottom.

Joe slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe Joe wasn't active enough on the ground.
Joe throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Anthony doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Joe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Anthony won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bart Anthony. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Joe decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Joe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Anthony swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Joe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Joe wants it to stay on the feet.

Joe drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Anthony stops Joe from passing to mount.

Joe tries for a kimura but Anthony is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joe is trying to get an arm triangle but Anthony is defending well.
Anthony wants to control but Joe postures up.
Anthony tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Joe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Joe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Joe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Anthony wants to control but Joe postures up.
Anthony is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Joe is looking to take a break and control but Anthony is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Anthony regains half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Joe lands a nice short elbow.

Anthony is staying active underneath Joe, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Joe wants to clinch.
Bart Anthony is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Joe shoots in and bounces Anthony off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Anthony is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Anthony is pulling down on Joe's head. It's preventing any offense from Joe, at least for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe Joe.
Joe is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Joe tried to score with a low kick but Anthony checks it.
Joe throws a nice looking combination but Anthony bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Anthony clinches with his opponent.
Joe can't break the clinch.

Joe pulls guard successfully.
Anthony would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Anthony has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Joe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Joe has a closed guard, preventing Anthony from standing up.

Joe looking for a guillotine here but Anthony defends easily.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joe holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Anthony wanted to stand there but Joe had control of the position.

Joe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Anthony can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Joe thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Anthony wants to stand but Joe is controlling his posture from full guard.
Joe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Anthony's guard.
Anthony wants to stand up but Joe is controlling him.

Joe stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Joe throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Joe fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Anthony, pushing him back against the cage.

Joe pulls guard.
Joe wants to sweep here but Anthony controlling him for the moment.
Joe lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Anthony!
Anthony is bucking up trying to escape but Joe cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Anthony is trying desperately to improve position.
Joe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Joe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Anthony takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Joe tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anthony manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Joe moves in looking to clinch but Anthony pushes him off.

Joe gets a clinch.

Joe has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Anthony uses from the top position.
Anthony would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Joe is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Anthony defends well.

Joe looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Anthony wants to stand and escape but instead Joe has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Anthony is on top in guard.
Joe has a closed guard, preventing Anthony from standing up.

Anthony decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Joe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Joe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Joe takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Anthony takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Joe tries to move into full mount but can't pass Anthony's legs.
Joe works to advance to full mount. Anthony defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Joe landing strikes from the mount and Anthony is in trouble!

Anthony manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Anthony is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joe slips a nice elbow through Anthony's hands, connecting with Anthony's forehead.
Joe is thwarting Anthony's attempts to control the position.
Joe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Anthony knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Anthony is trying to get back to full guard.

Joe is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Anthony is holding on to half guard well.
Joe trying to control from half guard but Anthony is working away.

Joe is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Joe decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Anthony is looking for a sweep. Joe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Joe Joe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Joe has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
