The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hispanyola tries to score a power double leg takedown but Uhri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hispanyola somewhat.
A big left from Uhri misses.
Hispanyola fails to land the takedown.
Hispanyola tries to close the distance and clinch but Uhri swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Uhri misses with a left hand
and Hispanyola makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hispanyola walks into a left hand.
Uhri closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Uhri is looking to take a break and control but Hispanyola is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hispanyola tries to get to full guard but Uhri has control of the leg.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Uhri seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hispanyola does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Iivari Uhri wasn't active enough on the ground.
Hispanyola throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Uhri has his foot on Hispanyola's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hispanyola works his way back into a safe position though.

Uhri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hispanyola. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hispanyola wants to control from the top but Uhri keeps moving.
Hispanyola has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Uhri told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

and Hispanyola counters by moving into the clinch.

Uhri breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Uhri swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Uhri shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hispanyola is trying to defend but Uhri finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hispanyola manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Hispanyola shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronaldo Hispanyola. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Hispanyola breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hispanyola blocks a head kick by Uhri.
Hispanyola shoots for a double leg takedown but Uhri sprawls well. He's pushed Hispanyola's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Hispanyola moves out of range of the body kick from Uhri.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Uhri tries to get to full guard but Hispanyola has control of the leg.
Uhri wants to control but Hispanyola is keeping busy.
Hispanyola is trying to control. Uhri wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hispanyola connects with a nice short shot to Uhri's temple.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hispanyola is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Hispanyola is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Uhri doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hispanyola.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Iivari Uhri will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Uhri looks to land a right hand but Hispanyola moved out of range.

Hispanyola shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Uhri pinned against the cage. Uhri gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Uhri is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hispanyola is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Uhri rolls with it to try and escape but Hispanyola cranks on the arm and Uhri is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
