Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Colman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for James Turner has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Colman!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Colman eats them both and turns towards Turner to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Mark Colman has been cut.
Turner fails to land with a series of punches.

Colman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Colman not doing much here.
Colman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Turner's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colman wants to pass the guard but Turner is defending well.
Turner avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Colman.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Colman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Turner napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Colman is trying to ground and pound but Turner uses the momentary lack of control by Colman to regain half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Colman tries to pass the half guard into mount. Turner knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Colman is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Colman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mark Colman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Colman keeps the fight on the outside.
Colman throws a right hand that misses
and Colman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Colman throws a right hand that Turner ducks under and follows up with a left that Turner also avoids with ease.
Colman keeps the fight on the outside.
Colman throws a series of punches but Turner avoids them all with ease.

Turner gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Turner escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Turner rushes Colman and presses him up against the cage.
Colman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Turner gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Turner breaks the clinch.
Colman shoots in for a takedown but Turner shows good takedown defense.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Colman.
James Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Colman.
Colman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Turner sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Colman somewhat.
Colman looks winded!

Turner closes the distance and pushes Colman back into the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Turner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Turner is leaning against Colman and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Turner will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Mark Colman's cut.
That's time! Turner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Colman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Left hook, right uppercut from Turner.

Turner waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Colman. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Colman to the canvas! Can he finish him!?


Colman is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Turner landing with the ground and pound.
Colman is still in real trouble! Can Turner finish him?
Turner makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Turner throws a strike but Colman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Colman wants to control from the top but Turner keeps moving.
Turner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Colman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Colman seems to have recovered his senses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colman throws a big elbow that misses.
Turner wants to get back to his feet but Colman passes into half guard.
Colman trying to control the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Turner fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Colman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
James Turner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Colman fails with a takedown attempt.
Colman is breathing heavily.
Colman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
James Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Colman.
Colman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Turner defends well and Colman ends up having to push Turner into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Colman drops down looking for an ankle pick but Turner pulls his leg out and moves away.
Turner moves in looking to clinch but Colman pushes him off.
Mark Colman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


That has opened up Mark Colman's cut even more.

Turner closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Colman takes a shot to the head.

Turner breaks the clinch.
Turner tries to clinch up.

Nice combo by Turner! Oh, that's hurt him - Colman falls to the canvas and Turner follows him into side control.
