The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson shoots in for a takedown but Hopkins shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hopkins lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Hopkins scores with a hook to the body. Thompson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Thompson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hopkins quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Thompson works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hopkins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Thompson . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
