PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anwar Sadat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dogg has chosen Kickstart My Heart as his entrance music. Anwar Sadat has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anwar Sadat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ron Dogg!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dogg wants to clinch but Sadat slips to the side
and Sadat counters with a nice uppercut.

Dogg throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sadat tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dogg is in Sadat's guard.
Dogg passes into half guard.
Sadat keeping hold of Dogg's head, controlling as best he can.
Dogg perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Sadat is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at CW's Elite Kung-Fu Academy, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Sadat keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Dogg throwing shots but Sadat is blocking nicely.
Dogg should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sadat moves into full guard.
Dogg looking to sit in guard and control but Sadat gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sadat wants to pass the guard but Dogg is keeping the position.
Dogg wants to sweep but no luck.

Sadat postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dogg is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sadat, into his guard.

Sadat pulls Dogg in to control the position.

Dogg wants to control from the top but Sadat keeps moving.
Sadat has his hands on Dogg's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sadat gets a takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sadat wants to pass to mount but Dogg is defending the position.

Sadat is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dogg has managed to free his arm - good work.
Dogg is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sadat uses his free foot to push down on Dogg's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dogg.
Dogg is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Dogg is trying to escape the mount.
Sadat is looking to work his way around to Dogg's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Dogg is working to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sadat tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sadat is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Dogg is in real trouble.

Sadat is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Dogg defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sadat is looking for the choke from the back position but Dogg is controlling his hands well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Sadat working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Dogg is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Sadat has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Dogg taps out!
