PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Waldo Mcmillan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bjorn Igelmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Igelmann has chosen Amporphis- black winter day as his entrance music. Waldo Mcmillan has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bjorn Igelmann!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Igelmann throws a right and a left that Mcmillan avoids nicely.
Igelmann throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Mcmillan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Igelmann has Mcmillan up against the cage in a clinch.

Mcmillan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mcmillan moves out of range as Igelmann throws a body kick.
Igelmann throws a right and a left that Mcmillan avoids nicely.
Igelmann throws a leg kick

and Mcmillan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Mcmillan gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Igelmann regains guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mcmillan lands a couple of elbows.

Igelmann is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mcmillan defends well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Igelmann working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcmillan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcmillan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mcmillan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Igelmann is proving hard to escape from.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Igelmann is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mcmillan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Igelmann has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mcmillan is working away from the top position though.

Igelmann uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mcmillan has time to react.
Igelmann slaps away a takedown attempt from Mcmillan, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Igelmann lands with a straight right. Mcmillan didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Waldo Mcmillan has been cut.
Igelmann throws the left hand but Mcmillan avoids the punch easily.
Igelmann dives in and grabs Mcmillan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcmillan pushes down on Igelmann's head and hops out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mcmillan is looking for a takedown.
Mcmillan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Igelmann walks away with a smile on his face. Mcmillan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Waldo Mcmillan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Igelmann rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Mcmillan counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Igelmann is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Mcmillan counters with a left and a right that stings Igelmann.
Igelmann shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Igelmann throws a hook but Mcmillan avoids it easily.
Igelmann throws a right hand that Mcmillan ducks under and follows up with a left that Mcmillan also avoids with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Igelmann has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Igelmann bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcmillan's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Igelmann seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mcmillan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Mcmillan drops his hands momentarily and Igelmann takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Igelmann lands a nice shot to the body.
Igelmann might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Igelmann is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Mcmillan is looking for a takedown.
Igelmann is trying to break the clinch but Mcmillan is controlling him.

Mcmillan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Igelmann wants to control from the top but Mcmillan keeps moving.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Mcmillan wants to sweep here but Igelmann controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bjorn Igelmann has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Igelmann shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcmillan defends it nicely.
