Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Burt Guth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jean Charles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Guth might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Alva Noto - Module 7. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Burt Guth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Charles!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guth chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Charles can pounce on him.
Charles throws a push kick but Guth slaps the foot to one side.
Charles swings for the body but Guth moves out of range.
Guth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Charles tries to clinch up but Guth circles away and keeps his distance.
Guth takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Guth takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Charles misses with a left hand

and Guth decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Charles's guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Guth wants to pass the guard but Charles is keeping the position.
Charles is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Charles looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guth wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.
Guth won't allow Charles to sweep him here.
Guth wants to pass the guard but Charles is keeping the position.
Guth forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guth looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Charles with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Guth is looking for a kimura but Charles is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Guth to get the leverage.
Guth sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Charles defending well though.
Guth with the ground and pound but Charles uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Guth wants to control from the top but Charles keeps moving.
Charles is pulling down on Guth's head to control his posture.
Guth lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Guth loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Guth trying to control but Charles is working from the bottom.
Guth in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Guth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Guth wants to pass the guard but Charles is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guth throws an elbow that misses. Charles uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Guth's guard. Nice move by Charles!
Guth looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Charles puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Guth is looking for a sweep. Charles is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Guth is trying is best to control the position here.
Charles stalling.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Guth is pressing down on Charles's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Guth looking to control but Charles passes into half guard.
Guth is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Burt Guth dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Charles throws a lazy right hand but Guth sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Charles throws a nice inside leg kick.
Charles connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Guth momentarily.
Charles goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Jean Charles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Charles rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Guth moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Charles, right into the meat.
Charles moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Charles tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Charles throws a low kick, looking for Guth's leg but Guth calmly moves out of range.
Charles looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Charles throws a right hand that misses
and Guth counters with a flying knee. Nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guth ducks under a wild hook from Charles.
Charles lands a jab to the nose.
Jean Charles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Charles tries to clinch up

and Guth counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Charles is not content to let Guth control the position.
Guth is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Guth is stalling here. Charles is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Guth seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Charles has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Guth gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Guth is trying to get back to full guard.
Guth wants to sweep but Charles has passed to side control!
Guth struggling a bit here.

Guth is trying to improve his position.
Guth is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Charles off and has taken his back!
Charles tries to escape the position.
Guth lands shots from the back.
Even with his hooks in, Guth manages to miss with strikes from the back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Charles is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Guth misses with a punch to the head.
Guth tries to keep control of the position but Charles is staying busy.
Guth seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Guth throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Charles is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Guth off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Guth keeps control of the position as Charles tries to break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Charles is having to fend off submission attempts from Guth, who is looking to sink in the choke. Guth doesn't have the hooks in though and Charles manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Guth takes one to the chin there.
Charles tries to clinch up.
Guth swats away the attempt to clinch by Charles.
Guth stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Charles.
Charles takes a swing at Guth's ribcage but misses.
Charles is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Guth circles away from the clinch attempt.

Charles looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Charles lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Charles throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Guth counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Charles pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Guth displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Charles throws out the jab.
Charles lands a head shot.
Charles throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Guth sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Charles works over Guth's head and body with a nice combination.
Charles loads up on a big right hand but Guth slips the punch.
Jean Charles has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Charles throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Charles misses the shot to the body.
Charles swings for the body but Guth moves out of range.

and Guth counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Guth throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Charles to regain full guard.

Guth lands a couple of elbows.
Guth trying to control the position from guard on top but Charles is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Guth postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Guth throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Charles managing to control the position.
Guth in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Charles has Guth pulled in close to control his posture.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Guth throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Charles works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Charles is trying to control the position but Guth postures up.

Jean Charles has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Charles throws a lazy head kick

and Guth counters with a single leg into guard. Charles didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Charles keeping moving, preventing Guth from controlling successfully.

And that's the end of the fight!
Burt Guth showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Guth, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
