The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spong tries to close the distance and clinch but Mole swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mole shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Spong pinned against the cage. Spong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kendall Mole seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spong misses with a head kick.
Spong tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mole swivels and escapes.

Spong has his foot on Mole's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mole works his way back into a safe position though.
Mole is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mole postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mole makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mole accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Mole's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Spong is on top in guard.
Mole seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Spong sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mole's guard.
Spong wants to free his trapped foot but Mole is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Mole is refusing to be controlled, as Spong sits in half guard.

Spong wants to stand up but Mole is controlling the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spong is controlling the pace.
Mole is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, if Spong is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well Mole has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
