Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kuiskaaja Rajala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kuiskaaja Rajala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fernando Silva!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rajala stuffs the takedown.
Silva dives in and grabs Rajala's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rajala pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
Silva fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kuiskaaja Rajala has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Silva.
Rajala stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rajala wants it to stay on the feet.

Rajala gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Silva is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Fernando Silva has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Rajala sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Rajala, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Rajala against the cage but Rajala circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Rajala has Silva pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rajala pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Silva tumbling to the mat - Rajala dives into Silva's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Silva can do anything to dispel that myth.
Our spies down at at Island Top Team inform us that Silva has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Rajala definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Silva has Rajala pulled in close to control his posture.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

I would just about give that final round to Fernando Silva.
